| The International Leadership Institute has run Travel-and-Learn programs in Europe and the US since 1985. These are our signature programs, as they combine insights into the history, political life, geography, religious landscape and economic strengths of the locales visited, while guiding participants to some of the best-loved and most spectacular sights of the area.
The first Travel-and-Learn program was in the village of Murren in the Swiss Alps, at Christmas of 1985. Participants ranged from university students to recent retirees, all with one thing in common: the desire to be more than simple tourists. Travel-and-Learn offered them the chance to get an idea of the politics of current Switzerland and Central Europe, while immersing them in the beauty, charm and historical hospitality of a tiny Swiss mountian village.
Since then, European Travel-and-Learn programs have taken participants again to Switzerland, and to then-Czechoslovakia (now two countries, the Czech Republic and Slovakia) and to Austria and Germany. In the US, Travel-and-Learn participants toured the American West (the Grand Canyon, Yellowstone National Park, the Tetons, Arches Monument in Utah, Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado, and more), as well as New York City, Florida (including Kennedy Space Center, the springs of central Florida and Orlando) and the Georgia coast.
